A brand new mix for times of lockdown and trouble, celebrating the sonic connections between Adrian Sherwood and Andrew Weatherall.
The idea for this session emerged following the tragic passing of Andrew Weatherall, a few days afterwards we went to see dub maestro Adrian Sherwood play an incredible show in Manchester. At the start of the evening he paid touching tribute to Andrew Weatherall, they were of course friends and collaborators. If you haven’t already do check out this brilliant 6 mix, with loads of great chat and tunes between them. They were very much sonic kindred spirits and their various productions emerge from dub music.
This mix celebrates those connections with selections from both producers that span nearly 40 years from squelchy dub in the early 80s through to deep electronica from 2020. The pallet of both producers is vast and the session features roots reggae, running through to both of their work with Primal Scream to pulsing floor fillers taking in various points on the way, the commonality is always heavyweight bass. There are some classic remixes and Funkdub favourites, the session is topped and tailed with quintessential samples from Lord Sabre tracks.
