Sad news – the excellent people at Positive Vibration only have one show left, the good news is it’s going to be a big one, the magnifcent Zion Train return to Liverpool for what’s sure to be another top of the shop gig at District in the Baltic Triangle:
A brief word about the terrific work Positive Vibration have done over the last decade or so. They’ve transformed Liverpool into a city that’s never been more receptive to reggae and bass culture. What’s more PV made sure all they did was embedded within the local community – the diaspora in Toxteth and the surrounding area and always engaging with local promoters, DJs and supporters of the scene.
The events they put on were of course excellent, from starting out as a small back street event party in the Kazimier Garden to one of the biggest and best reggae festivals in the country was no small feat. There were many highlights, but the Friday night of the festival in 2018 was one the most enjoyable evenings of music the funkdub crew have had anywhere.
Whilst it might all be coming to an end, there is definitely one permanent legacy, the fabulous Bob Marley statue in the Baltic triangle. So it might be the last show, we’re hoping the age old maxim “you’ll never give it up it’s in your blood” still holds true – but if not, big respect to Rory and the crew, it was a very fine thing.
Zion Train Dub is on at District in Liverpool on Friday 09.09.2022 – the last few tickets are on Skiddle
