Very exciting release news incoming, two legends of reggae & dub, Sly & Robbie, have teamed up with one of the very best of the modern generation of producers, Dubmatix. They’re releasing a new album “Overdubbed” later this month. Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare need no introduction, suffice to say if you listen to a classic reggae track the chances are that they’re running the drums and the bass. Canadian multi instrumentalist and all round production master Dubmatix has released some of our very favourite albums and tracks of recent times, he put on an outstanding live show at Positive Vibration in 2017.
The new record is a mouth watering prospect, as Dubmatix himself puts it: “The album spans genres while always maintaining dub/reggae sonics and approach. From the very Dubby “Shabby Attack” to the more ethereal “Great Escape”, to the vintage late 70s rub-a-dub sound of “Frenchman Code ft Treson” to the Massive-Attack-esque Dictionary. All roads were formed by the foundation of dub and this album not only encompasses and pays homage to these roots, but explores the various paths dub continues on from to this day.” The guest vocalist line up is jam packed including: Prince Alla, Screechy Dan, Megative, Jay Spaker, Treson, Pato Irie, Bill King, Pablo Paul, Shaky, Illorn, Aaron Kazmer and The Heavyweights Brass Band.
