London Reggae dons The Majestic are bringing their roots power to Chester with Funkdub and Doodleplanet at Telfords Warehouse on Saturday 4th of May 2019.
We’re back with a big one and can’t wait until the May bank holiday weekend for our 1st show in our 15th year! The Majestic have a lineage dating back to the 1980s, when singer Faada Ras and bassist Tony Ali put together the original group, they enjoyed huge early success including supporting Aswad, Misty In Roots and The Mighty Diamonds and playing at the legendary Stonehenge festival in 1983. The band re-emerged in 2010 and have been producing new music and touring hard ever since. 2014 saw the release of the “Unequivocal Love” album and they are main stays on the festival and live circuits. We were lucky enough to catch them as part of an extraordinary line up at last years Positive Vibration festival in Liverpool and they have just been added to the 2019 bill at Boomtown Fair, probably the most exciting and forward thinking festival in the UK. The flame burns stronger than ever and The Majestic have a brand new single “Naw Tek Dem”, just released, and an album on the way. They’ll be bringing their trade mark magnificent stage craft and roots rock reggae to Chester. A rare treat is in store.
In support will be the Funkdub residents celebrating 15 years of DJ sets and live shows in 2019. It’s great to be back at Telfords, following on from the fantastic show in 2018 from Smiley and The Underclass, and a real pleasure to have some more reggae on the stage that has hosted: Pama International, The Skints and Gentleman’s Dub Club for us. We’ll be bringing a huge box of records following hot on the heels of our latest mixes and last years festival sets. As a special treat the excellent people at Doodleplanet will also be at the show doing live illustrations!
